The Orphans of Waterdeep
Kara Janders grew up the daughter of a Waterdeep butcher, Skyler Janders. Her childhood was a happy one as she worked alongside her mother, Kayla Janders at home, learning the typical domestic skills. As she grew, Kara discovered her mother’s small collection of four books. One was full of fairy tales, another held a story about a trading ship to Maztica, the third was a sketchbook of plants and the fourth was an inherited tome from her grandfather concerning the legal profession of Waterdeep. Kara read all of them through many times but as she grew older, and the domestic chores grew monotonous, she found herself wanting more. She convinced her father to pay for her to attend an advanced school where she quickly became the best student. Upon graduation she attempted to follow in her father’s footsteps and opened her own business. However, the beginning was not promising and Kara found herself forced to move back in with her parents.
And then a completely random event on the courthouse steps introduced Kara to Lila and the rest of the Orphans. She soon had more business than she could handle alone and hired her “Brain Trust”, a nerdy collection of underemployed advocates, to assist her. In most recent years, Kara has been recognized as a tireless worker who always represents her clients to the best of her ability. While she is not always on the winning side, she has an impressive resume. Her standing among the legal profession of Waterdeep has grown so much that she recently was offered a position as one of the city’s magistrates but she declined as she feels she is not yet ready.
Kara is still only in her late twenties and as an attractive, funny and intense young woman, could have her pick of potential suitors. However, her heart has long been stolen by a secret crush and she has no intention of looking elsewhere.
