The Orphans of Waterdeep
William hails from a little village halfway between Waterdeep and Luskan to the North. His family worked a small iron mine that was handed down from generation to generation. William found the work to be hard but part of him enjoyed it anyway. When he was eleven, William traveled with his father to Waterdeep to sell their most recent load of ore. William was fascinated by the city and part of him knew that he would one day call it home. Upon reaching adulthood, William set out for the city once more, against his parents’ wishes. He found work as a laborer and his life changed as he was assigned to help repair the roof of the temple of Ilmater. William listened to many sermons while he worked. He found himself impressed by the earnest, hard working nature of all the priests. The thought of spending his life helping others in the city opened part of his mind that had been dormant. William converted and spent many hours learning to read and write. He eventually became a cleric to Ilmater and devoted himself to eagerly discussing the path of his god to newcomers, including Halem. William was deeply saddened when Halem died and prayed often for his fallen friend. William highly respects Kevros and hopes that his return will mean a positive change to the temple, which has fallen on hard times. Personally, William is suffering. During the recent riots, he was seriously injured when a mercenary stabbed him in the jaw as he sought to protect innocents. William has nightmares of that night.
William has grown in power of the faith and currently is rising towards the top. He worries that he is unworthy but has faith in Ilmater.
